Servitization through open service innovation in family firms: Exploring the ability-willingness paradox

Services constitute strategic components of firms’ value proposition, specifically for manufacturing firms currently called to servitize their products develop product-service systems. In order new services, they need acquire, assimilate, transform and exploit external knowledge, thereby partnering with stakeholders, a strategy labelled open service innovation . Yet research on management in general particular has mostly focused product innovation, leaving this area scantly understood. This is particularly true involving family the business, namely firms, acknowledged adopting distinctive behavior. With intention addressing gap, we conceptually investigate by embracing relational perspective. so doing, identify drivers contingencies behavior that might trap them own net(work) suggest managerial solutions escape from such trap.
